As the smoke clears from the fires raging in his neck of the woods, Campbell West comes face to face with his past.  Still as beautiful as ever, Mandy remains the only woman the rough and rugged cowboy is unable to forget.  Which is sad because Mandy has forgotten all about Campbell and the love they used to share.  A would-be assassin’s bullet made sure of that fact.

Mandy McCay is back in Montana, the home she left years ago to pursue her dreams of Hollywood.  When a stalker shoots her and leaves her for dead, Mandy’s battle to surprise is tabloid fodder, even as far away as Montana.  Fighting to learn to walk and talk again, Mandy is more  upset with the loss of her memory.  Bits and pieces of things she knows she should remember just aren’t there.  Especially where Campbell West is concerned.  Her attraction for this handsome cowboy burns bright but what will happen if Mandy recovers her memory? Will she be upset to know that she left this man without a second thought and never looked back? Or will Mandy realize that she is finally home, in Campbell’s strong arms, where she needs to stay?

I wanted to hate Mandy McCay.  I really did. I wanted to not like her for leaving Campbell and never looking back.  I didn’t want her to be attracted to him because I didn’t want him to be hurt when she regained her memory.  Slowly, however, the more I read, the more I began to change my mind and realize that Mandy was just as much a victim as Campbell.  Mandy wanted to be famous; she wanted to act.  Her choice of leaving Campbell could not have been made lightly, no matter how it came across to anyone else.  I found her father distasteful at best and did not like his rough edges and stubborn attitude concerning Mandy.

Campbell West made me melt.  Sultry, handsome, virile. This cowboy had it all, including a heart.  He wanted to dislike and hate Mandy too.  He wanted to remain indifferent to the woman she had become and he couldn’t.  His fall was tough but it couldn’t have happened to a sexier cowboy.  His intentions towards Mandy started out less than stellar but the more time he spent with her, the more he realized that the woman he fell in love with so long ago was still in her and all he had to do was find her.

LOVE WITH A WELCOME STRANGER by Lynnette Baughman tugged at my heart and made me teary more than once. I am a sucker for books where lovers are reunited and this is one novel where the storyline just flowed. The plot was well-written and the love shared between the heroine and hero was steamy.  LOVE WITH A WELCOME STRANGER was just the right book for me to settle down and relax with on a lazy September day!
