Dak Ricci is a former Dom.  Seeing the abuse some submissives suffer at the hands of their masters, Dak has found a way to help those being abused.  A member of an organization called Security Away From Extremists, or S. A. F. E., Dak rescues badly treated subs and helps them either find new masters or begin their lives again without the influence of BDSM if that is what they wish.  When Dak completes a highly emotional and draining rescue, he is ready to give up his membership.  However, his friend convinces him to save one more submissive.

Brea knows she is nothing and therefore deserves everything she gets.  Pushing her Dom to his limits, his abuse is taken because deep down Brea honestly thinks she deserves the punishments he ekes out.  When she is rescued by S. A. F. E. and a man named Dak, Brea begins to realize that what she thought was submission to a Dom was just a drop in the bucket.  Her feelings for Dak, and his for her, are strong but will it be enough.  Will Brea be able to be the submissive that Dak secretly wants and will Dak be the Dom that Brea honestly needs?

WOMAN IN CHAINS pushed every single BDSM button I have.  It was not an easy book for me to read.  Shockingly realistic, WOMAN IN CHAINS explores one woman’s journey and holds no punches.  The sex is gritty and raw and the submissive scenes are intense.  So intense that more than once I had to stop reading WOMAN IN CHAINS. It was an in-your-face-no-holds-barred look at the less talked about aspects of the BDSM world.

One inconsistency made its way to the forefront of WOMAN IN CHAINS concerning Dak.  He was adamant that he was no longer a Dom but upon meeting Brea, he instantly changed her name and once more became a dominant.  That one part seemed hurried but it was not enough to make me change my mind about the entire story.

Brea was hard for me to get to know. She kept her heart close and didn’t elaborate or put forth any effort for the reader to get to know her.  She honestly thought that every punishment she deserved and her goading of her first master was entirely thought out and on purpose so he would punish her and leave her alone.  I am so glad she was rescued by Dak.  He made her see that she was a woman of worth, not a woman in chains, and that love can be found between two people.

WOMAN IN CHAINS by Bridget Midway is BDSM at its most hardcore, at least to me.  Some scenes aren’t pretty but they are real.  Give me honestly and reality any day of the week.  Lovers of the BDSM genre don’t want to miss this heady and intense novel.
