Claire was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Now the dog bite she suffered
has healed overnight, her eye color has changed to an unnatural silver, and she
has acquired a new shadow in the form of hunky Gideon March. OK, that last part
about Gideon might not be so bad, except the part where he keeps breaking into
her home and insists she is turning into a lycan.
Gideon is going against everything NODEAL stands for by trying to help Claire.
The organization he works for is dedicated to eradicating the lycans. But
somehow he just can’t bring himself to kill the lovely Claire when she is
infected and instead finds himself working double-time to try and save her
before her curse is irreversible.
I’ve read Sharie Kohler’s historicals under a different pen name, but
MARKED BY MOONLIGHT is the first time I’ve enjoyed one of her paranormal
romances – the operative word here definitely being ‘enjoyed’!
It was a no-brainer for me when I was offered this book for review. Even if I
wasn’t familiar with this author’s writing prowess, I would have certainly been
intrigued by the plot. While at a casual glance the premise for the MOON
CHASERS series might seem familiar, Ms. Kohler offers a different spin
on the shifter mythos. In her world, shifters aren’t romance heroes – they are
the villains. Well, mostly… *grin*
I fell for Gideon from the moment we meet him in the story. This previously
intractable hunter found his life’s calling through family tragedy, and never
doubted the tenets of his employer – until he meets Claire. With her, his
mission changes from containment to salvation. Through his experience with her,
he finds a new purpose for his life, and of course he finds the love of his life
at the same time.
Becoming a lycan might be a curse, but in a serendipitous way, it is also one of
the best things to happen to her. Not only does her altered instincts help her
come out of the shell that once earned her the nickname ‘Mouse’, it also brings
the man of her dreams into her life. Not that she ever expected a man like
Gideon March, but now that she has found him, she can’t imagine life without
him.
MARKED BY MOONLIGHT is a moving paranormal romance full of action,
sensuality and will leave readers panting for the next installment of this
compelling series!
