With a reputation for her fun and sexy short stories, Janice Maynard delivers the goods once again with her book The Perfect Ten.  This collection of novellas introduces us to three cousins who run a shop together where they make their own beauty and health goods – Potions and Lotions.

One special night, the stars align, and something very interesting happens when they finish developing formula Number Ten….  Soon each of the women find that very formula seems to play a part as each finds the man of their dreams.

~He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not~

Damian Bennetti has had his eyes on the quiet Diana Killaney for some time.  That’s why he keeps going into her shop.  Sure, the lotions he buys there really do help keep his hands from drying out after a hard day in his auto shop, but that’s not what has him coming back.

A little intervention from her meddling cousins has Diana rubbing a new lotion into his hands for him, and suddenly he sees a returned interest in her eyes, enough to prompt him to finally make his move…

HE LOVES ME, HE LOVES ME NOT is an absolute gem of a story!  With a shy, introverted leading lady and a totally alpha-male type leading man, this novella was just what the doctor – or perhaps the mechanic in this case – ordered!

Damian is the epitome of the blue-collar, total hunk of a hero.  He works hard, he plays harder, and he certainly showed Diana everything love has to offer!

~Movie Magic~

With the big 4-0 looming right around the corner, Elizabeth knows she isn’t getting any younger.  But that doesn’t seem to matter to Enrique Cantilano, who is determined to show her just how desirable she really is!

Who doesn’t love a Latino lover?  Especially when he is as downright hot and wonderfully insistent as Enrique Cantilano is!  This man knows just how to thrill both readers and Elizabeth, and he never hesitates to use his considerable charm.  The fact that he has the very best of motivations only makes him more irresistible, as Elizabeth soon found…

~I Dream of Jeannie~

Between her too-high IQ and her bombshell looks, Jeannie is used to men being intimidated by her enough that they often don’t even try to ask her out.  When Nathan Hardison walks into Potions and Lotions, she meets a man who may just be able to handle a woman with both sex appeal and smarts…

As a woman working in a profession that is typically male (my day job), I completely empathized with the character of Jeannie.  Everyone either underestimates her because of her sex appeal or is intimidated by her brain, and for that matter, her looks too.  Kudos to Jeannie for seizing her chance the moment she meets a man who just might be different from all the others.

And Nathan?  This unassuming hero is the kind of man we all hope to find.  Kind, intelligent, and caring but yet he doesn’t seem to realize his own appeal.  Still, that doesn’t stop him from also seizing his chance when the lovely Jeannie expresses more than a little interest in him.
