Having suffered an abusive marriage and a painful divorce, work-a-holic Haley is teetering on the edge.  Her doctor insists she take a break, get away from it all – just for a little while.  Heeding his advice, Haley decides to spend a weekend away at her remote cabin, alone.

She never expected to come face to face with the man of her dreams – the man sure to unlock all of her hidden fantasies and let her live them to the fullest…  Haley is determined to enjoy the weekend for what it is – a few nights of uninhibited sex with a man she’ll never see again.  But soon she realizes a few nights will never be enough with the irresistible police detective Jeremy Pickett!

I first heard of HALEY’S CABIN many many months ago.  In fact, I am fairly certain that when I first saw a blurb and excerpt for it on a Yahoo Group somewhere, it had not yet found a home with any publisher.  But that didn’t last long.  Anne Rainey’s first novel obviously captivated the attentions of the fine people at Samhain Publishing the very same way it did mine!  When I heard some time back that it finally had a release date, I was beside myself with excitement, and reading it this weekend, I was not disappointed!

I tell you, I am most definitely not a woodsy sort of girl, but if I thought I would run into my own version of Jeremy Pickett, I would high tail it to the nearest log cabin in the middle of nowhere that I could find!  Jeremy was absolutely the right man for Haley. - the perfect balance of comfort and danger all wrapped up in one deliciously wicked man!  He was sensitive to her fears and needs, and yet dominate enough to force her to face the desires she ached to realize, but was hesitant to give free reign to.

Haley couldn’t have been more perfect for Jeremy if she’d been written for him (sorry, couldn’t resist! lol) Her sweet, vulnerable side brought out the oh-so-male protector instinct in him, and yet she still was brassy enough to stand up to him when he was being boneheaded.

Rainey wraps up Jeremy and Haley’s romance nice and tight, but as any clever author would do, she leaves us with enough tidbits concerning a pair of supporting characters to guarantee she’ll be receiving emails from readers asking about possible sequels!  I know I’ve already sent one myself…
